Winter Park is a city of over
30,000 residents located just
north of Orlando in Orange County, Florida.

Winter Park provides a high quality of life to
both its residents and visitors alike —
except for the families and businesses affected daily
by SR426 safety risks.

It’s time to ACT Now.

We request you to support the effort and, as a good neighbor, to do your part.  Please sign to show your support to improve safety and calm the traffic in this area via a variety of possible solutions.

A group of concerned residents started the Fix426 advocacy group to bring the community together,
and collaborate with agencies and leaders to radically improve FDOT’s efforts to prevent
accidents, fatalities, injuries, property damage caused by reckless and speeding drivers.

Why is this a crisis?

  • There are children, elderly family members, and pets who are at risk daily when they walk out of their home

or drive out of their garage.

  • Alarming number of accidents that cause injuries to other drivers and pedestrians.

  • Frequent personal property damage to homeowners caused by reckless and speeding drivers.

  • Life threatening risk to cyclists & pedestrians who dare to use side walk.

  • Life threatening risk to students/sports team members who run, jog, bike along SR426.

The speed limit range is 20-35mph for the 1.7 mile residential and commercial area along SR426.
The average citation is 45mph, and the highest speed was clocked at 93mph.

What are our goals?

  • Safer commute for residents, pedestrians, and cyclists

  • Safer ingress and egress for homeowners/business owners

  • Decrease traffic accidents, injury/death, personal property damage

  • Decrease/Calm the flow of traffic

  • Increase walkability; thus, increasing foot traffic from residents who can support local shops more

  • Increase desirability of the neighborhood and its local establishments

  • Maintain the status and beauty of Winter Park

  • Attract more visitors and increase business for local establishments
