Life threatening…

My children are zoned for Lakemont Elementary School and Winter Park Estates does not qualify for the bus. The only route for our children to walk or ride a bike to school is along Aloma and it is just not safe enough so I drive them.

Just this year on our way home from school we witnessed a man, who appeared to be leaving the hospital, walk across Aloma at Lakemont on the crosswalk and get struck by a car. It was a very terrifying thing to see first hand.

Several years back my husband and I were waiting to cross Aloma at Park Ave from Rollins College and when the crosswalk signaled for us to go, my husband stepped out onto the road as I noticed an elder driver going a little fast headed west. I noticed she wasn't slowing down as she approached and I had to pull my husband's shirt to get him to back up abruptly. If I hadn't done that he would have been hit by that driver who blatantly didn't notice that the light was red. It scared the crap out of the both of us.

Making a left turn out of the Sprouts shopping center is a nightmare and near impossible at times! Also as a resident, I am woken up just about every Saturday night between 12 and 3 from the street racing that takes place. Where are the police when this is going on?
